All beacon frequencies are derived from GPS.
GPS outages may cause frequency drift and are identified by 'NO GPS' in the beacon ID message.
Experimental VHF beacons may also transmit short digital messages (e.g. FST4-15) centred on the allocated frequency.
Output power may be reduced and/or ID frequency may be reduced during hot weather.
Beacons send station ID and a continuous carrier followed by a silent period on a 1 minute cycle.
This cycle is not currently synchronised with UTC time.
