Foundation training and assessments are held on the 4th Saturday of the month. We can run assessments for Standard and Advanced on these days as well. Advanced Training is run once a year commencing in mid to late February.

Foundation training commences 9:00am on the Saturday, lunch and refreshments are provided and the exams and practical assessment are conducted in the afternoon. Cost of the course is $35 or is free to club members ($35 membership).

Advanced training sessions are held on Thursday evenings at the club rooms commencing at 7:30pm or a mutually agreed time. They run for about 2 hours with a break for refreshments. No classes on the second Thursday of the month as that is the club meeting night, students are encouraged to come along on these nights and meet other club members who are always willing to answer questions and help you out.

Cost is $100 for the course which will run for around 14 sessions.

The recommended texts are the ARRL Handbook (any year) – Note we have loan copies of various editions at the club; or the Radio Handbook – Bertram (available on amazon). If you can find a copy of the Radio Theory Handbook for Radio Amateurs by Swainston then that may be useful too. We recommend the ARRL Handbook as it can be a useful reference guide well into the future, the others will not.

There are no exam fees, the ACMA do charge fees to issue a Recognition Certificate ($46) and a Callsign ($30-$53), there is no annual licence fee.
